Women cooperative members satisfied with their rice field

In Rubirizi, in Mutimbuzi commune of Bujumbura Province, members of the Twitezimbere cooperative from Buterere gave SOW members a tour of their rice field. This was cultivated thanks to funding from SEMERERA as part of its project aimed at the socio-economic development of women through capacity building, advocacy and small grants. This field, which is located in the rice fields of Rubirizi, is visibly doing well thanks above all to the daily monitoring and care provided by the women members of this village savings and loan association. Several tons of rice are expected for the next harvest of the field and the women members of the cooperative are already rubbing their hands. “We have worked hard, we have sacrificed our time, energy and resources for this field. We are aware that we must above all not give up because the next harvest will wipe away our tears “. These are the words of one of the women of the Twitezimbere cooperative. In addition to their rice field, these women used part of the fear grant granted by SEMERERA to increase the credits granted to members. Indeed, the grant now allows members to receive three times what they received before.
