Project Description
Who are we
SEMERERA was created in 2013 by young men and women in love with justice and equality for all. The name Semerera is a Kirundi word that relates to the French “make your voice heard” or “denounce”, and relates to the ultimate goal of the founders of the organization to encourage members of local communities to vigorously denounce and find lasting solutions to the most pressing social problems that haunt them. These problems include the various forms of discrimination against women, girls and children. To achieve this, the organization relies first of all on awareness-raising, the promotion of positive masculinity, legal and social support for victims of violence. On the other hand, we use advocacy and capacity building programs, to encourage the effective participation of women in the decision-making process, the peaceful resolution of conflicts and the contribution to the socio-economic development of their communities.
SEMERERA envisions a free, egalitarian and inclusive society for all without distinction
SEMERERA enables men and women of local communities to take charge of their own inclusive and sustainable development
